The Automatic Data File Scan feature translates the data file into a device image and then scans the image for sectors in the blank state. Sectors in the blank state are not programmed. Enabling the Automatic Data File Scan speeds programming time by ensuring only sectors with data in them are programmed.
Use this feature if the data file is being changed regularly. With Automatic Data File Scan enabled, you don't need to manually edit the Task each time the data file is changed. During the job load process, the data file is automatically scanned and only sectors with data in them are programmed.
To optimize the Automatic Data File Scan:
On the File I/O tab, select Default for Automatic RAM Fill.
On the Data tab, choose the data file before you enable the Automatic Data File Scan.
